There is a whole host of different anniversaries that occur in peoples’ lifetimes, and for each of those different anniversary gift ideas are available to choose from. People have celebrated the 1st, 10th, 20th and 70th as well as the 25th and 50th anniversaries for many years, and the gesture behind this is to commemorate the stability of the couple’s marriage. An anniversary is a very special time for the couple, and it is also a time to show each other just how much they love each other and to reflect upon the times they have shared together.

Delving deeper into the significance of the first ten years that pass for a happy couple, it is quite interesting to look at what type of gifts could be chosen by friends and family. The 1st anniversary, for example, is symbolised by paper, so anniversary gift ideas could include photograph albums and framed pictures.

The 2nd anniversary represents cotton, so anniversary gift ideas such as cotton clothing would be appropriate. The 3rd anniversary represents leather, so gifts like leather handbags, wallets and shoes can be given, and the 4th anniversary is fruit and flowers which is a really easy one to buy for. The 5th anniversary is wood so anniversary gift ideas like a beautiful wooden carving or maybe an exquisite piece of furniture can be taken into account.

The 6th anniversary represents candy or iron, so to combine the two you could make up a beautiful metal basket filled with sweets and chocolates for the couple. The 7th anniversary is wool or copper, so you could either knit or buy a piece of clothing, or alternatively, there are many beautiful copper ornaments on the market.

The 8th anniversary is bronze or pottery so you could buy some really magnificent pottery items like dining room or lounge ornaments. The 9th anniversary is willow and a really innovative anniversary gift idea for this would be to buy a few willow saplings to plant in the garden of the couple, and each year that passes from then on the trees will grow alongside the commitment of the pair.

Finally, the 10th anniversary is tin or aluminium and for you could purchase silver jewellery or ornaments to decorate their home. Anniversary gift ideas don’t have to be extravagant or expensive, as it is not about the amount it costs it is about the love shared between a couple, and their commitment to one another.
