Looking for a good electric guitar for beginners can be tricky. Most manufacturers compromise quality and reduce costs by using cheap pick-ups and other upgradeable hardware. Always remember that when choosing a less expensive electric guitar, you can still get quality workmanship and wood. Below are some of the leading brands that provide good quality electric guitars at a lower price for beginners.

Squier Fat Stratocaster

A lower priced Squier Fat Stratocaster is quite similar in appearance as the more expensive Fender Stratocaster. It is an appealing Squier model that has good hardware quality. For those who are just starting to learn to play the electric guitar, the Squier Fat Stratocaster is a very good choice at a reasonable price.

Epiphone G-310 SG

If you are looking for a good value when you purchase quality guitar, then the Epiphone G-310 SG is a great choice. It mimics the more expensive Gibson SG brand. Its guitar feature is made of dot-inlayed fingerboard that comes from rosewood. The body and neck are made from alder and mahogany woods.

Yamaha PACO12DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe

Yamaha PACO12DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe is known for its high quality of wood. It is a perfect beginner guitar made. Agathis, maple, and rosewood are the respective materials of the body, neck and fret board. It also features two single coil pick-ups and a humbucker.

Squier Affinity Series Telecaster

A Telecaster by Squier is preferred by famous guitarists such as Keith Richards and Albert Lee. The Squier Affinity Series Telecaster is favored because of its design and sound quality. The body of an Affinity Telecaster is made from alder wood. The fret board and neck is a maple wood. This is the perfect guitar for beginners who want to be more like the famous pro guitarists who endorse them.

Epiphone Les Paul Special II

The Les Paul electric guitar is a very popular electric guitar to use for rock music. An Epiphone Les Paul Special II guitar is a recreation of a Les Paul electric guitar but comes with a smaller price tag. This recreation is directly focused on the beginner’s market. Epiphone Les Paul Special II is made with a maple laminated body, a rose wood fret board and a mahogany neck. It uses two open-coil pick-ups.

Choosing among the top electric guitar models could surely help you improve your skills. It is a practical way of starting to learn playing the instrument. This is the reason why many singers are guitar players too. You could attempt playing old songs but keep in mind that if you desire on becoming an expert, you ought to spend a lot time practicing it.

Playing the guitar may look easy but it actually isn’t. Many beginners are not able to sing and play the instrument all together. It can be pretty difficult but sooner or later you would be able to play it with ease.

Playing the guitar would require devotion, practice and commitment especially if you desire on singing with it the same time. If you choose the correct song, it would be easier. Remember to select simple songs when you are just a beginner.

Carefully listen to a few simple songs about two to four times. When you are able to memorize it, try playing the song very slowly at first. It would be good if you sing and play per stanza.

Don’t worry if you commit mistakes. It will provide you with an opportunity to learn from it. If you believe that you could play the guitar in just a few minutes from learning it, then you are completely wrong. Learning the proper way of playing it would require time, passion and dedication.

This is the reason why beginners must not expect to play well all the time because it is utterly impossible. A portion of the total learning process consists of your mistakes and it is important that you would learn from it.

Even the best guitar players in the world had serious mistakes too. You should not be quickly discouraged or even quit. If you desire on learning by yourself, use any of the sources available like magazines, song books and journals that can aid you in your journey.

You can also locate various sources online where you can obtain different tutorials which are quite helpful especially if you want to learn straight from your home. Do not force yourself into learning how to play or else you would never learn anything. Understand that the whole thing is a continuous learning process. You have to set your mind that you are willing to learn. You have to put your heart into it. With dedication to learning, there is no doubt that you will learn to play the guitar easily in no time.

Irsan’s passion is to write on wide varieties of subjects. It may seem complicated for beginners but knowing how to read tabs is important for you to learn to play the guitar. Reading tabs could easily make you an expert in playing the guitar. Everything may seem difficult at first but in time, you will be able to learn to play the guitar easily with the help of many online guitar courses available. Now here are important concepts you need to know for you to learn guitar tabs easily.

The guitar staff consists of six horizontal lines where the bottom line represents “E” and on the other bottom by “A”. There are numbers that represents each line for you to know which tab to fret. For instance, the number “0″ tells you to play an open string. That is the basic on how to read guitar tabs.

Guitar tabs that show several numbers vertically would mean to strung or play all the notes at the same time. But when it is diagonal, it would mean to play the chords one at a time. Chord names are usually shown in the tab for easy identification.

You will also notice several symbols on a guitar tab. Here are the most common symbols seen on a tab. The “p” for full off, “h” for hammer on, or the “^” which means you could either hammer or full off. Other symbols would be “b” for bent to “r” for return of bent. You may also notice this symbol “\” which means descending slide, and “/” would mean ascending slide. A vibrato would be “v” but some tabs would present it as “~” or “~~~”. The ‘X” would mean string mute. Tapping with the right hand would be shown as “t”., the use of harmonics would be presented as “”.

These are the basics in reading guitar tabs. You will learn guitar effortlessly if you endure the basics I have just shared with you. Don’t take guitar tabs for granted for they are part of the very essence in playing the guitar.

You will be able to write notes if you master reading the guitar tabs. I also mentioned we would play the popular music that was on the radio. Acoustic Blues was always my favorite style of music.

I liked the deep pre-war acoustic stuff that was mainly played by some of the older black community. I think the only reason you could find this music in Hawaii at that time was that the late night DJ was a black Guy. And as it turned out most of the lyrics and progressions were remade by the hot new bands at that time. Bands like the Rolling Stones were doing some of those old black songs like I can’t get no satisfaction and I followed her to the station. Also Eric Burden and the animals were also redoing old blues songs. Ok I know I am showing my age now at 60 years old and it is hard to believe that those songs by these new artists are over 45 years old now.

Then I mentioned that the Hawaiian guys would always end the evening with a more traditional style of music by retuning their guitars. I could never get them to show us how or what they did but there was a silent code between them. While one guy was talking story or noodeling around with his guitar the other guy would be retuning. Before long they were both in this new tuning. I think it gave them great satisfaction in keeping this secret from us. As it turned out both guys would be in tune and would begin to play and sing Hawaiian songs. It was so enchanting and captivated me and I really wanted to try and play along but I could never figure out why my guitar was always so out of tune all of a sudden. It took me almost the entire summer to realize my old Stella guitar could be tuned in this magical type of tuning.

Finally the big secrete was revealed to me. I was working after school at the Marine Base in Aiea Hawaii as a janitor cleaning up the enlisted mens club which is a bar for the young Marines. It was strange that at that time in Hawaii the drinking age was only 18 years old. Anyway I worked with an old Hawaiian guy named Sammy. While we were on our lunch break I pulled my guitar out and Sammy said to me hey bradda Bruce try pass me the guitar already, in his style of pig English.

I handed him the guitar and he immediately began to retune the strings. Then the secret was revealed to me. Sammy began to tell me how many families in the Hawaiian communities actually had their own tunings that they played exclusively. The families would not share or teach anyone outside their immediate family this tuning because it was passed down from generations before. It was theirs for the keeping and is what made there families music different sounding from others. Its kind of like I guess how a magician will not show how a magic trick is preformed. The tuning that old Sammy showed me was the Taro Patch Tuning.

The Taro Patch tuning is the most common tuning in most of the Hawaiian songs. As it turned out I began to realize that this tuning was also used in many of the old blues songs that I heard from the old records that I had. It was also known as open G tuning that many bottleneck blues players would use. This tuning is a major tuning. The guitar is tuned to a major G chord or has a major chord within the tuning. To achieve this tuning you have to lower the tension on the standard tuning known as standard Spanish Tuning which is (E-A-D-G-B-E) on your guitar, from the lowest to the highest pitched string.

To get the Taro Patch tuning you have to change the pitch of the guitar strings to (D-G-D-G-B-D) which when you strum across all the strings it is the sound of a G major chord. I strongly suggest you use a electronic tuner to achieve this because you may break some strings until you understand the tuning.

Bruce Lamb ,Music Video Producer. Even if you lead a busy lifestyle guitar lesson dvds are making it easy to learn on your own in your spare time. The key is a quality lesson plan, good videos and a good instructor. Don’t fall for inexpensive learn guitar products that promise you’ll be playing songs in a weekend, that’s just not realistic. If you really want to play the guitar and you’re willing to put the time in then keep reading, I’ll share with you what you need to know to become a great guitar player.

Good Instructors

I know when you think of a guitar teacher you think private lessons. How ever you still need a teacher even if you use dvds to take lessons from. That teacher recorded those lessons in advance for you to learn from on your own time, but still that teacher has to be good at what they do. Some guitar lesson courses provide a bio on the instructor, what their experience is teaching and playing. If you can find out some background information on the individual in the videos that can be an asset.

Good Lesson Plans

Just like in grade school when you’re learning to play the guitar you need to learn things in a logical order. For instance it makes no sense learning strumming techniques if you haven’t yet learned what chords are. Also, you should be directed in which lesson comes first, second, third etc. Some learn to play guitar products give you 200 different lessons but it’s a free for all. There’s no instruction on which lesson to watch when.

Quality guitar home study courses will give you an exact order to their lesson and also a time line on how long you should practice the new skills you learn before moving on to the next lesson.

Quality Videos

Most dvds today are top quality, but seeing a screen shot of snippet of the videos would be good before you buy. Something people don’t think about when buying guitar lesson dvds is there are two hands you have watch when learning guitar. The right hand is strumming and the left hand is making a chord or moving around the neck in some way. If the videos show a split screen of each hand for new techniques you’ll be able to pick up new skills much faster.

Getting Started

I’ve found that most guitar lesson dvds at your local music store aren’t very good for beginners. You really need to be able to start with a dvd that has several volumes to it. This way you’ll be sure that the teaching style and lesson match up as you progress.

Some dvds are available as a complete set, I’d suggest searching on the Internet for a course like this. The price will be more expensive but if you’re getting 10 or 20 dvds it’s worth it.

To learn more about guitar instruction dvds visit our website. Even if you think you couldn’t hold a tune in a bucket, you can learn to sing and improve on your current singing ability. First, you need to dispel some common myths about the human singing voice.

Myths About Singing

Many people fail to learn to sing because they think that they can’t. Some think that they were born “tone-deaf,” and others think that only a select few have singing “ability.” While some individuals do have an inborn ability to control pitch or volume better than others, most people can learn these skills. It is very rare for someone to have absolutely no ability to detect tones, which would be true tone-deafness. Statistics show that only around two percent of all people in the world have this problem. Most people who have trouble singing to a particular pitch simply need to have their ears trained to hear these pitches.

Learn Your Range

Are you a soprano or alto, bass or tenor? Learning your range will help you select songs to sing that fit your voice. Just as a trombone cannot play the same notes that a piccolo does, an alto cannot try to sing the same high notes that a soprano can easily hit. If you choose to take voice lessons, have your teacher help you explore your full range, and then choose songs that fall within the boundaries created by your natural voice.

Breathing Correctly

Correct breathing is the key to good singing. Learn to take deep breaths using your diaphragm muscle, not your lungs. To find your diaphragm, take a long, slow breath, and try to push out your abdomen, keeping your shoulders still. If you can do this, you have learned how to breathe with your diaphragm. Then, project your voice out through your head, not your mouth. Visualize yourself sending your breath and voice out through your forehead. This will train you to use your “head voice,” which is far more pleasing to the ear than the standard voice used by most amateur singers.

Sing with Emotion

Once you have learned some basic skill and know what your range is, choose some songs and start singing. When you sing, enjoy yourself. Allow your emotional side to show through your song. If you sing with emotion, people will respond and appreciate what you are singing, even if your voice is not on par with the professionals.

Are You Too Old?

Many adults wonder if it is too late to learn to sing. It is never too late to learn. In fact, many singing teachers will not training children to sing, because their voices are not yet developed. However, as an adult, you will benefit from professional training. You have spent a lifetime learning poor singing habits, so learning to sing as an adult will require the help of a qualified singing teacher. However, with the right training and plenty of practice, you can develop a singing voice that you will be proud of!

An often overlooked accompaniment to grand pianos Toronto is the voice. How did the Hawaiians come to owning guitars and learning how to play them?

First off the guitar found its way to the Hawaiian Islands back in the 19th century. The Hawaiian king at that time King Kamehameha the 3rd he was given a few cattle as a gift from some Portuguese traders who stumbled upon the islands.

Now there are many different ideas on who actually gave the cattle to him but we do know he liked them and made it a law that no one was to harm them.

Well Hawaii is an abundant land and cows being cows all they did all day long was eat and make more cows. The population grew and many of the cows began to eat the crops and even the homes of the islanders. Because many were made with a salty grass. We know them as grass shacks.

When more Spanish and Portuguese explorers began to discover the islands King Kamehameha employed some of the Spanish cow boys who were on the ships to help with and teach the Hawaiians how to handle the cattle.

These Mexican and Spanish vaqueros or cowboys in English language brought some of there most prized positions with them. And one thing every one knows is the these cow boys love to sing and play guitar.

Because the Hawaiian cowboys or (paniolo) in Hawaiian, have always had their own style and deeply rooted type of traditional music they fell in love with this new instrument. They sensed that this could be adapted to there own style.

At the end of each long day of chasing cattle the Paniolos and Vaqueros probably began sharing musical ideas around the campfires every night. Boy would I have loved to be around those jam sessions.

After a few years many of the Vaqueros began to head back home. Many of them stayed on and started families in Hawaii, but most longed for their own homeland.

Many of the guitars that were brought over were left with their new friends and that seems to be the story on how the Hawaiians got guitars of their own.

The Hawaiians began to develop their own unique style of guitar playing and tunings. Using their traditional chants and songs this type of music began to evolve into the slack key style.

The Slack key style is a full sounding music. The Hawaiians figured out that by loosening the strings they could develop full chord sounds by just strumming the guitar and using very few fingering positions.

They started playing and experimenting with using their thumb on the picking hand and plucking alternating bass strings. Usually they will hit the sixth string then the fourth string with the thumb then pick a melody with which every finger got to the higher strings first.

Most players only use the thumb and index finger to play but some players have developed full picking patterns. This type of music continues to grow and more and new players are adding their own versions to the traditional form of music.

Bruce Lamb ,raised in a musical family. This could be vocal music lessons or it could be learning to play an instrument like the piano. People tend to feel that their children will be far more accomplished in life if they learn some musical skill.

Furthermore, people tend to feel that their children will have a hobby that can carry them through the rest of life if they learn how to be musical at a very young age.

This can certainly be a good idea, but you need to be careful if you want to broach the idea to your child in such a way as to make them accept it. Generally, there are three approaches that you can take when it comes to initiating your child into music lessons.

The Hardliner Approach

Interestingly enough, the hardliner approach is actually the easiest approach to pull off. You don’t need any level of dexterity when it comes to this approach. In fact, all you need is a willingness to take a mallet and just go into the conversation swinging (metaphorically of course).

Basically, you need to announce to your child that you have decided on their music lessons. Your child might not want to go, but you should not waver in your hardliner approach once you have adopted it. If you do that, the hardliner approach instantly becomes less useful for future situations. You need to drag your kid to the first few music lessons with this approach and keep doing it until their natural enjoyment of the activity starts to take over.

The Coax Approach

The opposite strategy of the hardliner approach is the coax approach. When you are using this approach, what you basically need to do is coax your child into coming with you to the music lesson. You need to make it seem like an exciting adventure that you and your child can share together and therefore pique their interest in the topic.

When you are using this approach however, you need to avoid being overly enthusiastic about the music lessons. Children can sense false enthusiasm in their parents quite easily and are generally not fooled by it. At the same time, they can sense a lack of interest too. It is a fine line to work, but if you know how to work that line you can certainly get more success out of the coax approach than out of the hardliner approach.

Conclusion

Music lessons for children can be very rewarding if done right. If you want your child to truly benefit from music lessons though, you need to get them to the point where they are regularly attending the music classes. If you don’t do that, you can pretty much kiss goodbye any of the long term benefit that they might get out of the exercise. Keep that in mind when you are evaluating what your next move is going to be in this particular area.

Renting grand piano Toronto is an option that works for many people. Often times there are even more choices available than used pianos.

http://merriammusic.com

<a href="http://x-msg.net/5429/learning-to-play-the-piano-choose-a-piano-teacher-or-online-lessons.html" title="Learning to Play the Piano?
